recap

Posted on Monday, July 31, 2006 in Family/Friends

this weekend was fun. six flags hurricane harbor was quite the experience, not the same as i remember it, but still ruben and amritz made it really fun. we swam in “dirty river”, we were flushed down the giant toilet, went on a couple other water slides and treaded water dodging the millions of tubes in the wave pool. i don’t ever remember a wave pool being that crowded. next time we do raging waters.

then sunday josh and i met up with charlie and went to the 2 stroke motorcycle meet. there were some crazy bikes there and we saw jay leno. last year we saw ian ziering from 90210!

love my job right now. there’s gotta be a catch, it’s too good to be true. meetings are actually productive and people are very competent in their positions, it’s crazy. maybe it’s just the way the corporate world is? we’ll see.

Yum

I tried this new recipe with asparagus because I want to find new ways to cook it and it came out awesome. Josh didn’t like it because there’s parmesean cheese on it.. so i had to eat his share too.. but here it is:

and earlier this week Josh made my favoritest food ever.. i ate the left overs until Wednesday so I know I could probably eat it everyday of my life:

Best white pizza ever. The dough is the best part.. Josh makes it with a secret ingredient.. i think it’s corn meal.

hot hot heat

Posted on Saturday, July 22, 2006 in Current Events

damn these 100 degree temps are getting expensive, the electric bill is jumping with all the AC we’re pumping in the house. good thing the humidity isn’t as high as the east coast, i really can’t stand that heat + humidity deal.

i posted the pics i took in buffalo. see photo gallery link on right.

Buffalo

Posted on Monday, July 17, 2006 in Family/Friends, Travel

Buffalo is hot and humid but it’s only in the 90s not the 100s like it is back in LA. Barely anyone is in Buffalo anymore, just my family and a couple friends. I guess we all really do just graduate and leave. i have yet to go to mighty taco, but i’ve had alligator rolls and a pastry heart and some delish BIG buffalo wings from bocce’s. I know Josh, Amritz and Charlie are jealous ;)

I wish my sisters were here, but I gotta wait till Xmas time to see them. I’m leaving Buffalo Wednesday morning, got too much to do at home in LA before I start my new job.

SOLD.

Posted on Friday, July 14, 2006 in Cars

I sold my car.. *sniffle* If I had a new car I don’t think it’d be as difficult to leave this one. I’ll miss my baby. LB didn’t even get to see or ride in it! The guy who’s buying it is taller than me, but seems to fit fine. he loves it and he seems very responsible so I guess I’m ok with him buying it.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest

Posted on Monday, July 10, 2006 in Movies

piratesJosh and I saw Pirates of the Caribbean Part Deux yesterday at the Edward’s Cinema in Valencia. We were going to see it at the Academy screening at 7 p.m. but someone wanted to see my car for sale after 6 p.m. so we went to a matinee instead.

Sidenote: Few things you realize at a screening at the public cinema (i’m not a theater snob), there are lots of kids, people laugh at unfunny parts, people talk, cell phones ring, there’s goo on the seats, the floor is even gooeier (sp?). Seeing movies at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater has been an awesome perk from my job, but also a curse. Public theaters are horrible. I’ve never felt this way before, but my coworkers talk of similar experiences.

The movie was a great cinematic experience, but it had no ending. A plot developed but never finished. The first Pirates movie ended but left room for a sequel, this was just an introduction to the next Pirates Part Trois. And Keira Knightly (circa 20) kissed Johnny Depp (circa 40)! Did anyone else catch this? And I’m talking about Johnny Depp being over 40. When did that happen? He still looks 30ish.

Up in Flames on the 5

Posted on Sunday, July 9, 2006 in Cars, Current Events

I guess some cars can’t handle 105 degree temperatures and uphill drive and they just catch fire. That’s what happend to this van on the 5 north Saturday.

the 4th

Posted on Wednesday, July 5, 2006 in Cars, Family/Friends

We had a last minute 4th of July Buffalo wing party last night. Amritz, Sarah, Ruben, Sarah, Devin and Charlie came by. It was fun and afterwards we sat up on a hill past the freeway to watch six flags magic mountain’s fireworks as well as Valencia Town center’s because Castaic Lake’s fireworks cost $$ and are usually super crowded and not worth the traffic afterwards.

Also went mini cooper s shopping. Talked to about 4 different people and it seems there’s a reason Cars Direct doesn’t sell Mini Cooper’s direct because the dealer cost is very close to the suggested retail cost, so there’s not much room for a bargain. And automatic/steptronic mini coopers are even more difficult to find. Especially used.. so I’m looking at new for now and I have an auto loan approved with a super low rate at Capital One.. just waiting for the right car to come up now and ready to bargain.

new job, new trip to buffalo

Posted on Monday, July 3, 2006 in Family/Friends, Travel

My days at the academy are numbered.. i put in my 2 weeks, so long Oscars! July 14th will be my last day. I’ll miss the folks I worked with but I won’t miss those 3 hours I lose in the car each day commuting. I got a job much closer with a better salary and better commute, 10 minutes away to be exact. There are also travel discounts which makes me an even happier employee. I love travel :) They ok’d my trip to London/Greece in September w00t!

I start July 24th, so I’m going to Buffalo July 15-19 via Jet Blue which I’ve only heard good things about. So I’ll report back after my adventure. Also flying from Burbank airport which is much closer and much less busy and makes Josh more willing to drop me off and pick me up :)
