Healthy eating out!

Posted on Monday, April 28, 2008 in food

I don’t eat out too often, everyday I go home for lunch and probably 2 to 3 times a month we go to a restaurant.. which isn’t too often from what I hear from my friends! But when we do I tend to eat waay too many calories, sodium, etc. So I found this article really interesting!

Olive Garden’s Venetian Apricot Chicken has 448 calories and 11 grams of fat.

Happy Earth Day!

Posted on Tuesday, April 22, 2008 in Current Events

Today (and yesterday) to celebrate Earth Day, several supermarkets are giving away a free reusable bag to each customer while supplies last. The bags are made out of recycled material. Just realized it’s state law that super markets offer plastic bag recycling and they must sell reusable bags. Stores like Ikea charge you a nickel for the plastic bag they give you when you check out, if you have a reusable bag then no charge :) I think that’s the only way the reusable bag thing will start catching on!

San Francisco plans!

Posted on Monday, April 21, 2008 in Travel

Josh and I are planning a short trip to San Francisco for Memorial Day weekend. We were gonna go Spy Hunter style and take the toy hauler with my Mini Cooper in the back but my Mini was 3 inches too long!! We’re still taking the toy hauler and the dogs and we booked reservations at the San Francisco RV Resort. It looks pretty cool for an RV resort for 3 main reasons… they allow dogs, have free wifi and a store with RV parts… which could come in handy since we tend to always have something go wrong with the trailer ;) Oh and it’s right on the ocean which could be nice or could be miserable because ocean usually = fog, clouds, wind & cold! when it’s on the West coast anyway… I like the Great Lakes sort of “ocean” I always thought the ocean would be just like Lake Erie or Lake Ontario…

We don’t have much planned yet.. want to see the Golden Gate Bridge and definitely stopping in Cupertino on the way up to see Apple Campus and the Campus store. It’d be fun to ride a cable car too. I hope Mandy and Damien will be up for the trip… Damien still hasn’t been walking well and has a compromised immune system (ear infection eye infection, you name it!). He has more tests later this week and next week for his intestines… his liver tested fine last week… after that is kidneys. His protein, glucose and cholesterol levels are low which is contributing to a weak immune system. We just want them with us in the trailer for the most part, we’re not planning on dragging them all over and they love the camper and are used to it… so we figure we’ll keep them comfortable for the trip :)

indestructible and invisible… iPod Touch case

Posted on Sunday, April 20, 2008 in Technology

I found a cool case for my iPod touch, it’s not too bulky and you can barely see it on. It’s indestructible or so the website says… I’ve had it on for a week now and it’s holding up well. They’re so confident of it’s indestructible-ness that they give you a lifetime guarantee on it and will replace your electronic device if it gets scratched through the skin.

Since it’s so thin, it’s not much protection against dropping.. but I guess the silicone iSkin cases really aren’t either!

Cleaning photos out of my cell phone…

Posted on Saturday, April 19, 2008 in Uncategorized

I took Damien to the vet today and because Josh was out of town (and I can’t lift him more than a foot), I put him in my Mini Cooper. He fit surprisingly well. He slept the whole way home and was sleepy when it was time to get out of the car and did the cutest thing, rested his head on the back ledge and just closed his eyes to go back to sleep. It was adorable… so I took a quick photo with my cell phone…

And then I learned how to transfer photos from my bluetooth phone to my bluetooth laptop… so I ended up cleaning all the pics out of my camera that I had intentions of posting the last year or so…

When I was in Philly visiting Tracey… we went to Urban Outfitters and maybe she wanted this lamp… so I took a photo of it?

lamp?

My Mini with the rat in it… being towed to the dealer where the rat meets his end.

If that tow truck driver only knew there was a rat under that hood!

The subway stop by the LA Civic Center… on my way home for LA Detour Festival… people are flying/floating overhead.

Subbu brought back this Taj Mahal figurine from India on his most recent visit home. It’s made of the same white marble the Taj Mahal is made of (heavy)!

They call it a ritual

Posted on Saturday, April 19, 2008 in Music

The new Wolf Parade album comes out June 17th, but one of the tracks has been leaked and it’s pretty good. It’s a bit different than their last album and all the Wolf Parade side projects like Sunset Rubdown, Handsome Furs, Swan Lake and Frog Eyes. I like it and I’m lookin forward to the new album!

Here’s the track:

Cloudy weather & you can still be healthy!

Posted on Thursday, April 17, 2008 in Uncategorized

Even when it’s cloudy outside a 10-15 minute walk can give you the same amount of vitamin D! It’s good for your skin and your mood! Researchers suggest 10-15 minutes spent outside at least 2 times a week to get your vitamin D intake. After 15 minutes, it’s suggested you put on sunblock though… because that’s when the UV rays start harming your skin!

Taken from this New York Times article.

I’m such a believer in this! Not so sure about the cloudy days… but I don’t spend a lot of time outside on cloudy days (and there aren’t many up here in northern LA county!), maybe it’s time I start!
