A Busy November!
I just got back from San Francisco. Was stuck in that airport for almost 6 hours because our flight was delayed. Shortest flight I’ve ever taken only 50 minutes and longest delay I’ve ever had. The only people that probably had it worse are the people in the plane that was circling over the SFO airport for over an hour.
Beside the craziness of the flight. Adobe MAX, the purpose of my trip was fantastic.. I’d like to highlight some parts but not sure where to even start. My favorite in the sneak peaks was probably the video searching software. You can select a face in a video and hit search to find the same person in other parts of the video. Your search results are clips of the video starting at the point in the playhead where that same person is. Of course like any search the results aren’t all what you want, you’ll get faces similar to the face you chose.. which could also be good. Another cool feature is it takes the speech and converts it to text, so you can search for a word that was said in the video.. by a person in the video or a narrator anything and it will find other spots in the video where that word was said. I’ve never seen anything like this and never thought about it.. so it was probably the most impressive to me.
My second favorite was an application for testing webpages. It will show how your webpage will be displayed in all browsers, Safari, Firefox for mac, Firefox 2 or 3 for PC, IE 6, 7 or 8. I saw this as a huge time saver because I develop on a mac a lot at home and I have to run Parallels sometimes just to test for PC browsers. There’s even onion skinning to view different versions on top of each other to see the differences.
So yea after 3 days of at least 10 hours of Adobe lecture I was burnt out.. but cool stuff. I gotta go to San Francisco again. I didn’t have time to see everything in daylight, but Paul and Kim were gracious enough to be my tour guides for a few days
It’s such a beautiful city! I didn’t expect it to be so East coast, old world architecture. Maybe because I’m used to LA and Vegas on the West coast. Josh and I will definitely be back within a year!
Neglect…
I know I’ve been neglecting this site… a lot has been going on and a lot less computer time at home. We have a new family member… Meeka:
Bottled water junkies!
I wanna see this movie!
Maglev in LA
So there are proposals.. or more than proposals plans now for a Maglev in LA. A maglev uses magnetic force to propel the trains of speeds up to 300+ mph. There’s a plan to have one connect Orange county to LA Union Station to Santa Clarita and then Palmdale. That means…
Orange County > LA Union Station 27 minutes
LA Union Station > Santa Clarita 15 minutes
Santa Clarita > Palmdale 17 minutes
That’s fantastic! If only construction started 10 years ago… I doubt I’ll see while still living here.
Ojai
On Sunday Josh and I went for a drive up to Ojai with Keith and Lauren. Keith bought a new Harley Davidson motorcycle and rode that up there on that with Lauren on the back. We had a nice lunch up there and then headed back home… only about 45 minutes away from us. It’s a cute little area.
Photos added… of the recent weddings
I added pics of Chrissy’s wedding in Buffalo and Paul’s wedding on Saturday.
Paul’s wedding was really fun. Kim’s dress was awesome, she looked beautiful. The food was sooo good. I had Chilean Sea bass. Cake was delicious too. West Lake Village Inn was a perfect setting. The wedding was outdoors. It’s set on a golf course and the gardens are really nice. Here are the pics:
Port O’Brien
I love this video… been loving this song, but never saw the video til today. It’s so great!
Old cell phone worth 10% what you paid for it?
Donate it! It’s tax deductible and in most cases the shipping is free… Fewer than 1 in 10 cell phones in recycled. The cell phone and its components represent energy that has been used to create that phone. Anything that can be done to prolong that phone’s useful life reduces or postpones the need to use energy to create a new cell phone. And the less energy used, the less carbon is released into Earth’s atmosphere. With world wide cell phone sales projected to top 1 billion per year in 2009, any effort to reduce those numbers could yield large energy and environmental savings.
Cell phone donation for several organizations
Cell phone for 911 emergency phones
Or just recycle it at a location near you
I learned most of this from carbonrally.com
Chrissys wedding was fuN
A capital N is appropriate! Had a lot of fun at Chrissy’s wedding and my visit to Buffalo in general as always. It rained just about everyday and was overcast when it wasn’t raining. Thursday was the only exception when it was partly cloudy. It didn’t matter though! I was only visiting for a few days and there were lots of friends in town that I haven’t seen since 2003!! (Chrissy, Joe, Brandon, Lesia, Nick) It was so good to see them all. We’ve kept in touch relatively well to know what’s up in a general sense, but it never compares to chatting and interacting in person. I love my friends from Buffalo, I wish I got to see them more. It’ll be good to visit Philly in November where I can see Tracey, Adam, Maggie, Christine and Jay in one shot. That’s a 5x dose of Buffalo outside of Buffalo
Here are some wedding photos and then a pic from Pasquale’s (for Buffalo style pizza!) for dinner our last night in town.
New iPods!
iPod Nano (looks a lot like the old iPod Mini)
