Chrissys wedding was fuN
A capital N is appropriate! Had a lot of fun at Chrissy’s wedding and my visit to Buffalo in general as always. It rained just about everyday and was overcast when it wasn’t raining. Thursday was the only exception when it was partly cloudy. It didn’t matter though! I was only visiting for a few days and there were lots of friends in town that I haven’t seen since 2003!! (Chrissy, Joe, Brandon, Lesia, Nick) It was so good to see them all. We’ve kept in touch relatively well to know what’s up in a general sense, but it never compares to chatting and interacting in person. I love my friends from Buffalo, I wish I got to see them more. It’ll be good to visit Philly in November where I can see Tracey, Adam, Maggie, Christine and Jay in one shot. That’s a 5x dose of Buffalo outside of Buffalo
Here are some wedding photos and then a pic from Pasquale’s (for Buffalo style pizza!) for dinner our last night in town.
Chrissy’s getting married…
to Jim on Friday! I’m going to Buffalo on Wednesday afternoon. Tracey’s gonna be there and Chrissy and Joe! I’m excited to see them all. I haven’t seen Chrissy since November 2003 and I haven’t seen Joe since May 2003! It’ll be good times even though Josh isn’t goin. I’ve been instructed to bring back more sponge candy because Josh is still rationing the last bunch he has.
I’ll try to take lots of photos and not get too distracted with all the reunions!
Buffalo visit!
I went home last weekend for Josh’s sister, Rachel’s wedding. It was a short but fun trip! Rachel’s wedding was beautiful. Josh doesn’t fly and he was super busy with work and we have 2 sick dogs at home so the 6 day round trip train ride was out of the question. Josh did the next best thing to being there, he sent a cardboard cut out of himself! See below… you’ll notice fingerprints on him in the photo of him with Rachel… that was the end of the night. He got a lot of action! He was all over the dance floor and the girls were all over him, even his cousin Jeff danced with him.
It was a lot of fun! The rest of the trip I visited with family and friends. It was so nice to see Nicole and Lisa again. We have so much fun doing absolutely nothing but hanging out at the house. We had plans to go to this new fondue place but it had an almost 2 hour wait! So we grabbed take out cheesecake from the cheesecake factory and did dessert night at their new house (which is also way cool with vintage-y urban outfitters style decor!). They have 2 black cats… the male- Batman had a thing for me. Apparantly he doesn’t really like people usually but he posing for my camera.
I posted the rest of the pics in the gallery… see link on the right
Buffalo Wing Festival
This weekend is the Buffalo Wing Festival in Buffalo! I was thinking we should have some sort of homage to it here in LA.. maybe Sunday when Ruben & Neeka come by?
Long time no post!
There was a state of emergency declared in Buffalo last weekend due to the early 2 feet of heavy wet snow.. it pretty much wrecked a LOT of Buffalo’s trees. And power was out for 450,000 people.. trees took the power lines/cable lines/phone lines down. I think they got all the power back though within 5 days. Parents are all good now, but a lot of the trees are broken
hopefully the trees survive and next spring bounce back.
Having more of a fall here in LA than in Buffalo.. well northern LA all the trees up here are changing colors
Been busy doing genealogy research. I’m on some kind of history kick.. Ancestry.com is great.
oh and i made the BEST focaccia yesterday.. i’m talking Maria’s Italian Kitchen focaccia… sooooo good! This ties in with the ancestry.com thing… my grandma’s maiden name means “cook’s apprentice” in Polish.
Buffalo
Buffalo is hot and humid but it’s only in the 90s not the 100s like it is back in LA. Barely anyone is in Buffalo anymore, just my family and a couple friends. I guess we all really do just graduate and leave. i have yet to go to mighty taco, but i’ve had alligator rolls and a pastry heart and some delish BIG buffalo wings from bocce’s. I know Josh, Amritz and Charlie are jealous

I wish my sisters were here, but I gotta wait till Xmas time to see them. I’m leaving Buffalo Wednesday morning, got too much to do at home in LA before I start my new job.
new job, new trip to buffalo
My days at the academy are numbered.. i put in my 2 weeks, so long Oscars! July 14th will be my last day. I’ll miss the folks I worked with but I won’t miss those 3 hours I lose in the car each day commuting. I got a job much closer with a better salary and better commute, 10 minutes away to be exact. There are also travel discounts which makes me an even happier employee. I love travel
They ok’d my trip to London/Greece in September w00t!
I start July 24th, so I’m going to Buffalo July 15-19 via Jet Blue which I’ve only heard good things about. So I’ll report back after my adventure. Also flying from Burbank airport which is much closer and much less busy and makes Josh more willing to drop me off and pick me up
no go buffalo
Not going to Buffalo after all. It turns out the tickets we had that were ‘buddy passes’ from Jay from USAirWays are actually not all that great. Even though you pay for the passes, they are “seat requests” (aka standby) not actual tickets. And worse still, buddy passes put you on the standby list under any paid travelers, employee travelers, and employees traveling with companions, and companions traveling alone.
So needless to say, there were 4 paid travelers that couldn’t get on the plane due to overbooking as well as 17 standby people that couldn’t get on the plane. The ticket agent woman explained that people have been at the airport waiting for 3 days to get a flight out to the east coast and we too probably would be. I didn’t want to deal with being stuck in some city in the midwest or someplace else waiting to get to the east coast for days and the trip was only for 4 days or so, so we asked for a refund. If we mail our “seat request” tickets back to Jay we’ll get a refund they tell me. At least we get that, I suppose. So I wonder how buddy passes are any benefit at all.. flying standby is not a benefit imo. But, I’m a person that lives by plans and reservations and confirmations, it makes everything less stressful.
I feel bad that I put Amritz through all this and made plans with my friends in Buffalo and put my parents through it. Sorry
Hopefully, I can visit Buffalo sometime soon.
Buffaloooooo
Going to Buffalo this weekend.. haven’t been back in 2 years!! Amritz is going with me, Josh is a chicken and won’t fly. So we get to have the bestest bad-for-you food ever all weekend long. On my list:
- Mighty Taco Chicken Fajita
- Anchor Bar Wings
- Anderson’s Custard
- Roz’s Pizza
- Spot Coffee (Is Higher Grounds on Sheridan still open? I love their pb hot cocoa, though it may be too warm for that)
and to do:
- Niagara Falls
- Transmission Dance Party
- Accepting other invitations…
Can’t wait to see family and friends again
