A taste of Southern culture?

Posted on Sunday, June 3, 2007 in Family/Friends, Travel, food

Miss the warm (but don’t miss the muggy) nights on the East coast. Sat with LoriBeth by her pool after the expo today until dinner time and then we went to the Flying Biscuit.

The Flying Biscuit in Atlanta

It’s in a really cool part of town. Very artsy. I had “herb crusted chicken” it was delicious. The salad before was especially delicious- lots of leafy greens and a really good dressing, but I couldn’t figure out what it was. Salad came with a big biscuit (which looks like one, but tastes like 3- sooo filling) and some cranberry apple butter (kinda spicy but delish).

Then the meal came - I forgot what it came with and couldn’t figure it out. There was a cube of about rice-crispie-treat-size in orangish color, my chicken and what looked like wilted romaine lettuce cut up? Then I remember it came with “grilled” mac&cheese. It tasted ok, but sat like a brick in me.. so I moved back to the chicken and salad. The wilted lettuce thing- that was “collard greens”, a Southern thing. It didn’t look remotely appetizing but I had to try it.. I paid for it after all. I tasted it with water ready… and it tasted about as appetizing as it looked. Tasted like canned (yea that gross preservative taste) green beans (I hate green beans) but of course texture of wilted lettuce. Yuck. I don’t recommend it unless any of my description sounded good. Rest of the food was pretty good though, very filling.

I wish I had photos of the food, because I know at least Amritz would appreciate it.

Getty Villa!

Posted on Tuesday, May 29, 2007 in Family/Friends, Garden, Travel

We went to the Getty Villa in Malibu for memorial day and it was beautiful. It was so pretty. The flowers and gardens and fountains were awesome. I took a whole bunch of photos and put a bunch of them in the photo gallery.

Looks like the Getty Villa will be booked thru the rest of summer.

mexico!

Posted on Saturday, April 14, 2007 in Family/Friends, Travel

josh went to get his passport today, it should take 8-10 weeks. we’re planning on going on a 6 day cruise to the mexican riviera in october. it’ll be our first vacation together for longer than 3 days! my parents or his parents are going to fly out to watch the doggies. although i’m very prone to sea sickness, i think ginger pills should help, they worked in Greece. stops are in mazatlan, puerto vallarta and cabo san lucas. i’m really excited to experience another country with josh even if it’s “just mexico”.

Mini Rally!

Posted on Thursday, January 4, 2007 in Cars, Travel

Here’s a pic from the MINI skirts rally I went to on New Years Day. Josh got sick from my driving + what we call his ulcer and we had to end it at PCH but it was a fun drive starting in Universal City- Mulholland Drive :)

(The MINI skirts is an all girls MINI rally group. If you have a MINI and you’re a girl in so-cal, you should join!)

I drive it in manual mode most of the time now. I really like driving it that way too.. perhaps I could drive a stick one day!

Let’s Motor.

Posted on Tuesday, September 26, 2006 in Cars, Travel

Trip to London and Greece was amazing!!! Just got in Sunday night and left for Kansas City this morning. I’ll get to that more on my next post and some photos of course too.. it may even require a mini site :)

Speaking of mini.. I got my new mini last night!!! I was sooo excited. It’s the coolest car ever. So many little gadgets and gizmos I didn’t know about and the dealer threw in lots of goodies like a free laser etched mini valet key chain, embroidered floor mats, the dash cup holder and the “finishing touch” package. I can’t wait to motor more. I drove myself to the Van Nuys Flyaway bus with Josh in it and I find myself staring at it admiring it’s beauty. *sigh*

7 days!

Posted on Thursday, September 7, 2006 in Travel

i can’t believe i’m going to london in 7 days! we’re allowed to bring laptops and ipods on international flights to the UK now so at least our trip will be easier. though we aren’t allowed to have gum, toothpaste, hand lotion, lip balm, eye drops, etc. i still have to buy some ginger pills for the plane motion sickness. i got antibiotics today from my doctor so i can hopefully finally kick this sinus infection before i go.

check the photo gallery for more pics from jetskiing a few weeks ago.. i’ll get the rest of the pics from JDH probably after my trip.

Drove down to malibu with josh and jerry for breakfast then down to PCH along the coast and back up home. beautiful drive, i never drove through pacific palisades and brentwood before. I can’t wait to get my mini and drive it through the mullholland canyons. there were about 8 or so lotus elises driving through the canyon together, it looked like so much fun.

The delay with my mini is finally explained. The plant has been closed for upgrades recently.

Buffalo

Posted on Monday, July 17, 2006 in Family/Friends, Travel

Buffalo is hot and humid but it’s only in the 90s not the 100s like it is back in LA. Barely anyone is in Buffalo anymore, just my family and a couple friends. I guess we all really do just graduate and leave. i have yet to go to mighty taco, but i’ve had alligator rolls and a pastry heart and some delish BIG buffalo wings from bocce’s. I know Josh, Amritz and Charlie are jealous ;)

I wish my sisters were here, but I gotta wait till Xmas time to see them. I’m leaving Buffalo Wednesday morning, got too much to do at home in LA before I start my new job.
